Our energy business and operations are managed by PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE), which was acquired from PT Krakatau Sarana Infrastruktur, a subsidiary of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, in 2023. In addition to strengthening our position as a growth partner for strategic sectors in Indonesia, the acquisition also brings synergies, diversifies our revenue streams, and provides supporting utilities essential for our expansion.

KCE manages a dedicated power capacity of 120 MWp to support internal operations and meet the energy needs of industrial and community areas in Cilegon. This is further complemented by the contribution of PT Krakatau Posco Energy (KPE), which operates a coal-fired power plant (PLTU) with an additional capacity of 200 MW.

Going forward, Chandra Asri Group also plans to develop renewable energy power plants, such as solar and hydroelectric facilities, with the electricity generated being used to support our chemical production operations.

Energy Infrastructure: A Three-Pillar Approach to Resilience

Our primary business is supplying electricity in Krakatau Industrial Estate and its surrounding areas.

Electricity Supply

Electricity supply is the core business of KCE. This segment is supported by power plants with a total capacity of 120 MW. The company provides electricity to the Krakatau Industrial Estate (KIK) with coverage of 2,666 Ha. KCE serves 216 industrial, business, social, and government customers, as well as 1,609 household customers.

For electricity generation, KCE uses a 120 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) technology or commonly known as Steam Gas Power Plant (PLTGU) which consists of two gas turbine generators, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators, and one Steam Turbine Generator. The main fuel of PLTGU KCE is Natural Gas. KCE guarantees the quality of electrical energy produced according to industry standards. For this reason, KCE created a compensator system to maintain voltage stability.

In addition to the main 120 MW system, KCE's power generation network is complemented by the contribution of PT Krakatau Posco Energy (KPE), which operates a 200 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU), supported by transmission and distribution systems up to 150kV.

Together, these facilities ensure a reliable, efficient, and scalable power infrastructure that supports both present and future energy needs.
