Strengthening National Resilience, Chandra Asri Group Increases MTBE and Butene-1 Plant Production Capacity

Chandra Asri Group has increased the production capacity of its Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE) and Butene-1 (B1) plants by 25% as a strategic step to accelerate import substitution efforts and strengthen the resilience of Indonesia’s petrochemical industry. The facility, located within the company’s integrated complex in Cilegon, has been operating optimally after successfully completing a series of technical trials at the end of February 2026. As the sole domestic producer of these two strategic raw materials in Indonesia, this capacity increase emphasizes the company's role in maintaining a reliable supply of raw materials for the domestic energy and manufacturing sectors.

President Director and CEO of Chandra Asri Group, Erwin Ciputra, stated that this capacity increase is part of the company's long-term commitment to building a more robust, competitive, and sustainable petrochemical supply chain. By strengthening this production capacity, Chandra Asri Group not only maintains domestic market resilience and foreign exchange efficiency but also paves the way for Indonesia to expand its reach into regional markets through the export of downstream products with higher added value.
