The construction progress of Chandra Asri Group’s Chlor Alkali dan Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) Plant in Cilegon, has reached 33%. This progress includes initial development such as land leveling, land compaction, and preparation for jetty construction that will support product distribution, both for the domestic and Southeast Asia market. This CA-EDC Plant will be managed by PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) , a subsidiary of Chandra Asri group.
The project is currently in its first phase, covering plants with production capacity of 400,000 tons of solid caustic soda per year and 500,000 tons of Ethylene Dichloride. The presence of this plant is projected to reduce import dependence on imports of strategic chemicals, with a potential contribution of up to IDR 5 trillion in foreign exchange per year. In addition, the substitution of caustic soda imports is estimated to generate savings of up to IDR 4.9 trillion annually. This will not only strengthen national downstreaming, but also provide essential raw materials for various domestic industries, ranging from water treatment, soap and detergent production, alumina refining, to nickel processing, ultimately positioning Indonesia more strongly in the global market.
