PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), in collaboration with the Garut Regency Government and the Bakti Barito Foundation, has launched a research evaluation on the implementation of plastic asphalt. The findings demonstrate the superiority of plastic asphalt in enhancing road durability and managing waste from landfills in Indonesia. The evaluation was conducted on 23 road sections in Garut Regency, covering a total length of 50.2 km. Trials indicate increased stability with plastic addition up to 6.1%.
Johanes Ronny PA., Head of the Road Materials Agency at the Ministry of Public Works, emphasized the importance of road stability and durability in sustainable infrastructure development. Circular Economy & Partnership Manager at Chandra Asri Group, M. Nicko A. Setyabudi, added that mixing plastic with asphalt increases the density and durability of the mixture. The launch of this research coincides with National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) 2025 and is hoped to be adopted in more regions. Dian A. Purbasari, Director of the Bakti Barito Foundation, hopes that this initiative can support waste management and improve infrastructure quality in Indonesia.
