Danantara and INA Explore Investment Opportunities in CA-EDC Plant Development

Chandra Asri Group, Danantara Indonesia, and INA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore strategic cooperation in building a Chlor-Alkali and Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC Plant). This project aims to boost local production of caustic soda and Ethylene Dichloride, while also supporting Indonesia's downstream industrial growth. With an estimated value of around USD 800 million, the CA-EDC Plant project is expected to help the government achieve its target of up to 8% national economic growth.

The plant will be run by PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), a subsidiary of Chandra Asri Group. The project is currently in its first phase, which involves building a facility that can produce 400,000 tons of solid caustic soda (equal to 827,000 tons in liquid form) and 500,000 tons of Ethylene Dichloride per year. The plant will contribute significantly to the economy by reducing imports of caustic soda, increasing export opportunities for Ethylene Dichloride, creating added value, and strengthening the local supply chain. It will also support key sectors such as water treatment, soap, alumina, and nickel industries for Indonesia’s long-term development.
