Chandra Asri Group utilizes CIRCLO© plastic flakes as an asphalt additive in road construction within the PT Indo Raya Tenaga area, specifically for the Jawa 9 & 10 coal-fired power plant projects. This project is equivalent to managing up to 3,200 kg of plastic waste from landfills. This initiative represents a concrete step toward implementing a circular economy by the Chandra Asri Group, where plastic waste previously discarded by the public is reintroduced into the value chain as high-utility infrastructure material.
CIRCLO© itself has been commercially available since 2025. Its production involves recycling industry partners, in collaboration with PT Chandra Trading Nusantara as the license holder and manager of its commercial activities. This collaboration demonstrates that sustainable solutions can coexist with scalable business models. According to a 2017 study by the Ministry of Public Works, asphalt mixed with plastic has been proven to have significantly better stability, structural durability, and service life compared to conventional asphalt. The use of recycled asphalt is a tangible manifestation of integrating sustainability principles into the company’s operational activities to create responsible ecological value.
