PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) and the Serang Regency Government signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for mangrove conservation on 180 hectares of land on the north coast of Banten. The program aims to preserve the coastal ecosystem, reduce the impact of abrasion, and support Indonesia's ENDC 2030 target. This step begins with mangrove planting in an area of 100 hectares to preserve the environment while improving the welfare of the community.
The Regent of Serang appreciated this program as an important effort to protect coastal areas affected by abrasion. Besides playing a role in climate action, mangrove conservation is also expected to create economic value through the development of tourism areas and mangrove-based processed products.
Head of ESG and Sustainability Chandra Asri stated that mangrove conservation is part of the company's Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) strategy to reduce carbon emissions and create socio-economic benefits. The program was also extended to the Lembur Mangrove area, Pandeglang, as an innovative sustainability model.
