Chandra Asri Group Expands B1 and MTBE Plant through Partnership with IKPT

PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) has signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT) to increase the capacity of its Butene-1 (B1) and Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE) Plants by more than 25%. Located at the integrated petrochemical complex in Ciwandan, the plant, which has been in operation since 2020, plays a strategic role in reducing import dependency and supporting domestic and export markets for key petrochemical products.

The B1 plant produces co-monomer for the production of Polyethylene plastic resin, while the MTBE plant produces octane additives for gasoline. This expansion strengthens Chandra Asri Group's position as the sole producer of B1 and MTBE in Indonesia. Through its extensive expertise in various EPC projects, IKPT will ensure the project will be completed within 12 months and meet the highest safety and quality standards.

Through this initiative, Chandra Asri Group reaffirms its commitment to innovation and sustainable development in Indonesia's petrochemical industry. This project will not only drive industry growth, but also provide substantial benefits to the wider economy, reflecting Chandra Asri Group's dedication to strengthening the domestic downstream industry.
